In 1957, the Soviet government decided to establish two kinds of scientific periodicals: “Reports of the Academy of Sciences” and “Proceedings of the Higher Educational Institutions”. The publication of the journal “Textile Industry Technology” from the series “Proceedings of the Higher Educational Institutions” was entrusted to the Ivanovo Textile Institute named after M.V. Frunze and is still successfully carried out by it.
The founder of the journal is the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The editorial board of the journal included and includes representatives of the leading universities in Russia with a significant industry component: A.N. Kosygin Russian State University (Technology. Design. Art), Ivanovo State Polytechnic University, Kostroma State University, Ivanovo State University of Chemical Technology, St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design, K.G. Razumovsky Moscow State University of Technology and Management, Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry and others.
The journal publishes articles and reviews, highlights the results of scientific research, tells about advanced domestic and foreign experience, determines the development of textile technology and engineering. It also contains publications on scientific conferences and meetings, information of a critical and debatable character, materials of dissertations, short messages and advertisements. Up to the present time, more than three hundred of its issues have been published, containing more than 15 thousand scientific articles, which ensures a continuous exchange of scientific information between universities, industrial enterprises, research institutions.
Over the years of its existence, the journal “Textile Industry Technology“ has practically become the only scientific periodical on the problems of textile machinery and technology, economics and organization of production, mechanization and automation of technological processes, reconstruction and construction of textile enterprises. The scientific level of the journal developed and grew with the development of scientific researches. In addition to issues of technology of textile production, the problems of organizing production and the economy of the textile industry, textile engineering, automation of technological processes, materials science, energy, ecology won firm positions in the journal.
The appearance of the journal more than 60 years ago played an important role in a significant increase of the qualifications of scientific personnel. Degree applicants have always made extensive use of the journal and continue to use it for publishing their thesis. A distinctive feature of these works is the high level of theoretical research, which allows us to speak about the authority of the journal not only in Russia, but also abroad. For many years, the journal was fully translated into English in Great Britain, distributed in many countries of the world: the USA, France, Germany, China, Mongolia and others.
It is also distributed all over the world nowadays. Both the appearance of the journal and its publication technology have changed. The current editorial board and editorial staff preserve and develop the traditions established by previous generations of prominent scientists, and do everything to ensure the journal “Textile Industry Technology” remains a publication of a high and modern scientific level.
